We are pleased to announce that the first Crew Resource
Management course took place in V.Ships Crew Management Office
(CMO) in Gdynia, Poland, from the 24th to 26th June
Similar training events are organised in Odessa, Mumbai,
Novorossiysk CMOs on a regular basis.
This training was conducted by our Head of Seafarer Training
Alasdair Ireland. Sessions were dedicated to both deck and engineer
officers including Polish crew members of DP shuttle tankers
operating within Campos Basin of Brazilian waters. One of our Rio
de Janeiro Ship Management Office Superintendents also benefited
from attending the course.
The purpose of CRM Training is to emphasise the role of the
human element in Deck and Engineer Officers performance. Specific
human factor issues are addressed through case study presentations
as well as workshops activities.
With the STCW Manila amendments taking full effect in Jan 2017,
it is crucial that V.Ships officers and V. Group as a whole are
fully prepared for all Bridge/Engine Resource Management training
requirements (the CRM program comprises such skills).
Although we are delighted to have had such a positive reaction
from our Polish delegates so far, we will also be seeking feedback
from all the delegates 3 months after they complete the course in
order to see how they have benefited once back in the operational
Further CRM courses are planned in V.Ships Gdynia in the near
